The original Call of Duty: Warzone is bidding farewell today, prompting farewell messages from players and fans.
In November 2022, alongside the release of Warzone 2.0, the original game was rebranded as Warzone Caldera. Last June, Activision made an announcement that Caldera would permanently close its doors on September 21. With the game’s closure, all players’ progress will be erased. Any purchases made in Warzone Caldera will not carry over to Warzone 2.0, although they can still be used in other Call of Duty games such as Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard. It remains uncertain whether the Caldera or Verdansk maps will make a comeback in a future update for Warzone 2.0.
Fans have taken to social media, sharing old clips and reminiscing about their gaming experiences with friends. Reactions on the official Reddit page ranged from gratitude and nostalgia to frustration with the current state of Warzone. The original map of Warzone, Verdansk, is receiving a lot of retrospective love.
